The most common LD is dyslexia. Telling the Difference Between Conditions It can feel difficult to know which challenges are related to ADHD or to dyslexia. Although ADHD  involves attention and dyslexia affects reading, the conditions can look similar. Here are three examples. Distraction Both children with ADHD and dyslexia can appear distracted; however, the reason behind the distraction is different. A child with ADHD might appear distracted because it is difficult for them to pay attention., while a child with dyslexia might seem distracted because reading requires a great deal of effort and their energy has dwindled. Fluency Fluent readers are able to read with accuracy, relative speed and, if reading aloud, add expression to the words. In order to comprehend what they have read, a child needs to be able to read fluently. A child with ADHD might not be a fluent reader because they lose their place or skip endings because their fast brain has raced on to the next part. Someone with dyslexia might not be a fluent reader because they  spend a long time sounding out each word or reading words incorrectly. Whatever the cause, both affect the readers ability to understand what they read. It also means reading is not an enjoyable activity for them. Writing Writing and penmanship can also be problematic.  Someone with ADHD might have problems with organization and proofreading, while a child with dyslexia has problems with spelling, grammar, organizing ideas, proofreading, and handwriting. A good way to distinguish the two  conditions is to remember that dyslexia problems occur mostly during reading and writing activities, whereas ADHD symptoms appear in many settings and are more behavioral in nature. Co-Existing Conditions In the past, ADHD and dyslexia were viewed as being independent of each other. However, as Dr. Thomas E.  Brown explains in his book A New Understanding of ADHD in Children and Adults that recent research has shown that the  executive function impairments related to ADHD are also associated with dyslexia. ADHD and dyslexia are separate conditions; however, if a person has both, it means they have the broad executive function impairments (problems focusing, using working memory, etc.), as well as an impairment of the particular skills needed for reading, for example, processing symbols swiftly. Some people say they have math dyslexia. This is not an official term, however, since not many people have heard of dyscalculia (a math disorder), saying ‘I have math dyslexia’ is a simple way to describe their condition. Diagnosis The two conditions are diagnosed differently and often by different professionals. ADHD is considered a mental disorder and diagnosed by a psychiatrist, psychologist, neurologist, and some family doctors.   Dyslexia is an educational issue rather than a medical issue so it is typically not diagnosed by medical professionals.  However, sometimes a developmental pediatrician can diagnose dyslexia if they have had training in cognition and learning. Typically a clinical psychologist, school psychologist,  educational psychologist, and neuropsychologist all diagnose dyslexia. Since dyslexia is not a medical condition, an evaluation for dyslexia is not usually covered by medical insurance.  The severity of dyslexia varies from mild to severe, which is also true of people with ADHD. This means no two people will have symptoms that are exactly the same. Treatment There are various specialized dyslexia reading programs. They are often based on or include elements of the Orton-Gillingham approach. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham were reading and language mastery pioneers. In the 1930s Gillingham published detailed instruction materials to help with reading, writing, and spelling. It has since become the most researched approach to date. Not all reading programs are helpful for dyslexic students. Look for ones that include phonemic awareness, fluency and detailed guidelines for spelling rules. Your  child’s school may have specially trained teachers that can provide the help they need. However, not all schools do, in which case you could find a special tutor to work with your child after school. Accommodations in school for ADHD and dyslexia are very helpful for your child to be able to achieve their academic potential. Dyslexia and Developmental Dyslexia Dyslexia and developmental Dyslexia are the same conditions. Usually, when someone says dyslexia they are referring to developmental dyslexia, a condition that is inherited. The other type of dyslexia is acquired dyslexia, which means a person became dyslexic due to a brain lesion such as after experiencing a traumatic brain injury or having a stroke. This can happen with ADHD too. Most people inherit ADHD  from a family member, yet a small portion of the population might acquire  ADHD symptoms, either prenatally or during development, due to a variety of causes that may damage the brain. How to Increase Confidence and Self-Esteem One of the biggest challenges for children with ADHD and dyslexia is being able to feel good about themselves. Often, their confidence and self-esteem are low as they struggle with tasks that their friends and siblings find easy. Here are three things you can do to help: Identify:  When children know they have a condition with a name, like ADHD and dyslexia, it helps them. They understand why they are the way they are, and it stops them looking for explanations for themselves, which are often terms like ‘I am stupid’ and ‘I am dumb. Effort, Not Results:  Give your child positive feedback on the effort they put into a task rather than their results or grades. A child with dyslexia and ADHD has to work harder than other students, yet that effort is not always reflected in their grades. Knowing that their effort is recognized by you makes a big difference to a child’s self-esteem. Activity Outside of School:  When your child shows an interest in an activity outside of school, encourage it. Being good at something -- whether it is a martial art, a sport, arts or crafts -- builds confidence. It has a positive ripple effect on other areas of life, ?including school-related activities. Neither ADHD nor dyslexia can be cured. However, they can both be treated and managed so your child can live a successful life. Children often get a great deal of hope and validation when they hear of famous people who face the same challenges as they do. For example, Steven Spielberg has dyslexia, Justin Timberlake has ADHD, and Richard Branson has both ADHD and dyslexia. Seeking Help When you are learning about dyslexia, a common message is ‘early intervention is key.’ Early detection of any condition is of course helpful. However, if you realize your child has dyslexia while they are older, do not feel guilty. It is never too late to get tested and seek the appropriate treatment. If your child has ADHD and dyslexia, the ADHD symptoms can mask the dyslexia tell-tale signs. Also, an intelligent child finds ways to compensate and mask their difficulties, which makes detection harder for you. A child that has a good emotional bond with their parent is more likely to have better copping skills with negative emotions in stressful moments; they are more independent and more confident to go out in the world and explore their options. There’s two particular theory of attachment id agree with which would have to be Bowlby and Harlow theory. Attachment I believe comes from early age and it’s based on how the caregiver takes care of their child and the emotional connection they share with their child. Harlow’s theory sta tes that babies are more attached to theirs mothers for the simple reason it’s the parent that feeds them and shows protection, once they find that in a parent they become more in order to survive. There are different styles of attachments for example secure, insecure, avoidant, and anxious-ambivalent. Secure attachment is when a child its upset when their caregiver leaves but once the caregiver returns they are able calm down. This shows how they feel secure enough that they can count on the parent to come back. Another type of attachment is insecure attachment is when the child shows no emotions towards their caregiver and they don’t really care whether their caregiver comes back or not. You probably do not realize the impact that the invention of plastic has had in your life. In just 60 short years, plastics popularity has grown considerably. This is largely due to just a few reasons. They can be easily molded into a wide range of products, and they offer benefits that other materials do not. How Many Types of Plastic Are There? You may think that plastic is just plastic, but there are actually about 45 different families of plastics. In addition, each of these families can be made with hundreds of different variations. By changing different molecular factors of the plastic, they can be made with different properties, including flexibility, transparency, durability, and more. Thermoset or Thermoplastics? Plastics can all be separated into two primary categories:Â  thermoset and thermoplastic. Thermoset plastics are those that when cooled and hardened retain their shape and cannot return to original form. Durability is a benefit meaning that they can be used for tires, auto parts, aircraft parts, and more. Thermoplastics are less hard than the thermosets. They can become soft when heated and can return to their original form. They are easily molded to be formed into fibers, packaging, and films. Polyethylene Most household plastic packaging is made from polyethylene. It comes in almost 1,000 different grades. Some of the most common household items are the plastic film, bottles, sandwich bags, and even types of piping. Polyethylene can also be found in some fabrics and in mylar as well. Polystyrene Polystyrene can form a harder, impact-resistant plastic that is used for cabinets, computer monitors, TVs, utensils, and glasses. If it is heated and the air is added to the mixture, it turns into what is called EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) also known by the Dow Chemical tradename, Styrofoam. This is a lightweight rigid foam that is used for insulation and for packaging. Polytetrafluoroethylene or Teflon This type of plastic was developed by DuPont in 1938. The benefits of it are that it is almost frictionless on the surface and it is a stable, strong, and is a heat-resistant type of plastic. It is most commonly used in products like bearings, film, plumbing tape, cookware, and tubing, as well as waterproof coatings and films. Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC This type of plastic is durable, non-corrosive, as well as affordable. This is why it is used for pipes and plumbing. It does have one downfall, however, and that is the fact that a plasticizer has to be added to make it soft and moldable and this substance may leach out of it over a long period of time, which makes it brittle and subject to breaking. Polyvinylidene Chloride or Saran This plastic is recognized by its ability to conform to the shape of a bowl or other item. It is used mainly for films and wraps that need to be impermeable to food odors. Saran wrap is one of the most popular wraps for storing food. Polyethylene LDPE and HDPE Perhaps the most common type of plastic is polyethylene. This plastic can be separated into two different types, including low-density polyethylene and high-density polyethylene. The differences in them make them ideal for different uses. For example, LDPE is soft and flexible, so it is used in garbage bags, films, wraps, bottles, and disposable gloves. HDPE is a harder plastic and is used mainly in containers, but was first introduced in the hula hoop. The following are the themes coming out after reviewing literatures on integrated customer experience in marketing: Theories related to customer experience Many research studies have evaluated the customer-brand relationship by the application of the interpersonal relationship theory. For instance, Peter, (2014) used the interpersonal relationship theoretical framework to study about the impact of interpersonal relationship on marketing performance. It focused on social exchange theory and the uncertainty reduction theory to interpret the research data. The social exchange theory explains that give and take is necessary to strengthen any relationship, so feelings and emotions of recipient should be reciprocated to develop a good and long lasting relationship (Cropanzano et al. 2016). This concept may be applied to develop strategies for improving the customer experience too. Secondly, the uncertainty reductions theory gave idea about the stages two individual go through when they are strangers and have no knowledge about each other (Hogg, 2016). Another research contributed to the understanding of the integrated customer experience by connecting the dots between brand experience and brand loyalty. The relationship between customers experience with brand and the brand loyalty component of purchase and attitude was examined by means of survey with 372 consumers. The use of questionnaire supported the collection of data related to experience with a brand, feelings of trust and loyalty towards the brand. The outcome of the study showed that brand experience has a direct relation with brand attachment and brand commitment. However, the research showed no link between brand experience and brand trust. This disparity occurred because brand trust is dependent on level of involvement (Ramaseshan and Stein 2014). This research is significant because past studies focused only on the link between brand experience and customer loyalty, however this study established the link between brand experience and purchase brand loyalty. It also co ntributed to the interpersonal relationship theory. The study gave many managerial implications too by stating that managers should plan strategies to enhance brand-related stimuli such as communication, packaging and environment to influence brand experience. The dual substance theory also reflects in the fact that human mind is free of the principles of nature, while all physical things abide by the principles of nature. Human thinking is quite vast. This paper evaluates the mind-body theory p roposed by Descartes. Human mind does work independent of the body but with certain restrictions. Yes, the mind can exist independent of the body, though it depends which part of the body is lost. This can be estimated from the fact that some people lose parts of their body like limbs, feet, hands in some accident and some are born with these disabilities, yet it does not decrease their mental ability in any way. In fact, in a vast majority of cases in which people suffer from a certain kind of disability, they are able to optimize on their other kinds of skills. For example, an individual that is born deaf is sharper in learning the language of signs than an individual who can hear and speak. Likewise, people that lose their foot and have to walk with the help of crutches increase their muscular strength because of the constant exercise. Hence, losing some part or parts of the body does not deprive an individual of the natural energy. In fact, the mind has the same amount of energy to exert of the remaining body parts due to which, the individual’s performance in other areas improves. An individual’s mind would keep functioning if he/she receives a bullet in his/her hand, feet or leg. But if someone is shot in the heart, the mind would stop functioning soon thereafter because it will lose its source of blood supply. Heart purifies and pumps the blood to all parts of the body. If heart is lost, life is lost. If heart is intact, there is good chance that the individual would survive. In addition to the heart, another area that is very critical and is fundamental to the sustainability of life is the mind itself.
